When you’re sick is the wrong time to learn the system. This is where English-speaking specialists actually are, and how to get reimbursed.

Where to go
- Major hospitals run International Healthcare Centers (Severance, Samsung, Asan, SNUH) with English coordinators — call ahead and ask for the international clinic, not the general desk.
- For minor issues, the 1339 health hotline has English and can route you; pharmacies (약국) handle a lot without a doctor.
Insurance claim
- Ask for an itemized receipt (진료비 세부내역서) + diagnosis (진단서, may cost extra) — travel insurers require both. Pay, keep originals, claim after.
