Highlights

History

The name Osulloc is described as a combination of "sul" (雪, snow) for the snowy summit of Hallasan, "lok" (綠, green) for the green tea fields, and "O", an exclamation of wonder at that scenery.

The museum opened in September 2001. When it was redesigned in 2023, the main building, modeled on a teacup, was changed to look out over the green tea fields and gotjawal forest. Inside, you can explore the history and culture of tea in Korea, as well as the tea cultures of East and West.

There is more to see beyond the main building. On the upper floor of Tea Stone, which backs onto the gotjawal forest, is media art on the theme of Chusa Kim Jeong-hui's "Sehando" and his Chusa calligraphy style, and on the lower floor is a space where the fermented tea "Samdayeon" is aged. Mansu-gil, lined with about 100 camellia trees, has a photo zone where you can take pictures against the Seogwang Tea Field and Hallasan in the distance, and you can come across installation artworks all around the outdoor garden.
