Living in Korea

Month-three logistics

Bank account: Toss Bank for foreigners

Toss Bank now offers accounts to F-series visa holders with ARC + passport. Online sign-up, English UI, no branch visit.

Internet at home: 1 Gbps for ₩30,000/month

KT, SKB, LG U+ all offer 1 Gbps fiber. Install in 1–3 days. English customer service: 080-100-1234 (LG U+).

Monthly transit pass: Seoul Climate Card

₩62,000/month for unlimited Seoul subway + bus, or ₩65,000 with Ttareungyi bike share.

Mobile: MVNO long-stay

After 90 days, switch from short-term USIM to a SKT/KT/LG MVNO with unlimited data for ~₩35–55k/month.

Housing: monthly stay (월세) vs jeonse

Long-stay foreigners almost always do 월세 (monthly rent + deposit ₩10M–50M). Avoid jeonse — Korean rental scheme that needs large deposits.

Furnished short-term: Mr.Mention, OASIA

For 1–6 month stays, furnished serviced apartments around ₩1.5M–3M/month including utilities.

Health insurance

After 6 months residence, foreign residents are auto-enrolled in National Health Insurance (NHI) — approx ₩100–250k/month based on income.

Taxes

F-1-D holders pay no Korean tax on overseas income. Confirm dual-tax treaty with your country.
