—Where to exchange cash in Seoul
- • Banks — generally open 09:00–16:00 on weekdays; hours vary by branch, so check before you go.
- • Authorised money exchangers — compare the rate they post with the rate above before you hand over cash.

Smart-money tips
- • Refuse DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion) at terminals — pay in KRW.
- • Travel debit cards (e.g. Wise, Revolut) are an alternative to exchanging cash — compare their rate with the rate here.
- • Use ATMs marked Global ATM that show your card's logo — Hana Bank lists Visa, Mastercard, JCB, UnionPay, Cirrus and PLUS for its Global ATMs.
- • Traditional markets and street stalls often want cash — withdraw some before you go.
- • Most taxis and chain restaurants take Visa/Mastercard, but Seoul subway gates and buses don’t accept a foreign card yet (planned from 2027) — ride with a T-money card.
