Why go
Jeonju Nambu Night Market is held inside Jeonju's Nambu Market, which opened in 1905. It runs every Friday and Saturday, 17:00–23:00, all year round. Its official name is the Nambu Market Hanok Village Night Market.
Highlights
History
Nambu Market opened as a public market in 1905 on the site of a market that, in the Joseon era, was held just outside the south gate of Jeonju Fortress. It is Jeonju's signature traditional market, steeped in the lives of merchants and residents over many years.
When the Youth Mall moved into the empty shops on the 2nd floor of Building 6, young merchants and entrepreneurs gathered and brought new life to the market.
On night-market days, lights come on in every alley after sunset, and a soft glow spreads beneath the traditional market roof. It is one of Jeonju's signature night spots, where travelers and locals eat, browse and take a break together. By day, Nambu Market is a market of about 800 shops selling vegetables and fruit, dried seafood, furniture, silk, household goods and Jeonju specialties.
