History

According to the Songpa District Office, Seokchon Lake is a lake made in 1971 by drawing in Han River water. When Songpa-daero was laid between the lakes, it split them into two lakes of the same shape, East Lake and West Lake, and the park is now also known as Songpanaru Park.

The Lotte World website introduces Lotte World as established in 1989. It states that, besides Adventure, a folk museum, an ice rink, an aquarium and Seoul Sky are grouped under one name.

Seoul Sky is the observatory at the highest point of Lotte World Tower, which has 123 floors and is 555 m tall. According to the Korea Tourism Organization’s English guide, a sky shuttle takes you from B1 to the 118th floor in 1 minute, and in the exhibition video you can also see a 3D recreation of Joseon-era Seoul.

Lotte World Adventure sits under a huge glass dome, and it is described as letting you enjoy attractions, parades and performances whatever the weather. Crossing the overbridge on Adventure’s 2nd floor leads to Magic Island, which floats on Seokchon Lake, and on B1 there is Underland.

Seoul Sky looks down on Seoul in 360 degrees from a height of 500 m. The Songpa District Office introduces Seokchon Lake as having an area of 285,757㎡ (water surface 217,850㎡) and a depth of 4 to 5 m, with a jogging course and walking paths making it a resting place for citizens.
