How to buy tickets in Korea

Concerts, musicals, sports. Which global ticket site takes your foreign card, what it charges, how cancellation works — and where to find the exact on-sale time (each show’s own notice, in Korea time).

Tactics that actually work

Use the global sites, not the Korean ones

NOL World only takes cards issued outside Korea, and Melon Ticket Global is for people living abroad — each points Korean residents to its Korean site. As a visitor, start on the global version.

One account per site, made days ahead

NOL World, Melon Ticket Global and YES24 English each need their own account. Register and save your card before sale day, not during it.

The open time is in each show notice

There is no single on-sale time. Take the exact time from the show’s own notice — it is Korea time (KST, UTC+9) — and convert it to yours.

Keep a second card ready

Have a second card issued outside Korea on hand in case the first is declined. On YES24, AMEX cards issued abroad and UnionPay do not work at all.

Cancellation fees (NOL World default)

Unless the show sets its own rule: free until 23:59 on the booking day. 10+ days before: ₩8,000 (musicals/concerts) or ₩2,000 (plays, classical, sports), capped at 10% and free within 7 days of booking. 9–7 days: 10%. 6–3 days: 20%. 2–1 days: 30%. Cancelling closes at 17:00 KST the day before the show (11:00 if that day is a Saturday). The booking (service) fee: NOL World's terms say it is not refunded, but its cancellation screen says it comes back if you cancel on the day you bought — check that screen before you cancel.

Box-office pickup

Many shows hand tickets out at the venue box office. Bring ID that matches the name on the booking.

Do not buy to resell

NOL World’s terms let it cancel bookings it presumes were made to resell or transfer. Buy only for yourself, from the official seller.
