Wellness, spa & beauty

Jjimjilbangs you can sleep in, K-derm clinics with English desks, Korean traditional medicine, and the one massage place we keep going back to. Plus the 8-step jjimjilbang flow if you've never done one.

Your first jjimjilbang — 8 steps

  1. 1
    Pay & take a key
At the counter — you get a wristband (locker) and uniform.
  2. 2
    Shoe locker
Right at the door, shoes off, keep the small key inside the big locker.
  3. 3
    Gender-split bath floor
Strip down — bathing is fully nude. Wash thoroughly at a stool (Korean rule: never enter the soaking tub dirty).
  4. 4
    Bath / sauna circuit
Rotate hot pool → cold pool → wet sauna. 5–10 min each, drink water between.
  5. 5
    Dress in the uniform
After bathing, towel off, put on the issued T-shirt + shorts. This is the public-area uniform.
  6. 6
    Sleeping & food common area
Mixed-gender. Sleeping rooms (often heated floors) + restaurant + ice room + jjimjil sauna pods.
  7. 7
    Sleep
On heated floor with a wooden block pillow + a small pillow you can rent.
  8. 8
    Checkout
Hand back the wristband. Settle any food / drink charges (auto-billed to the wristband).

Tips before you go

Cash before card
Many smaller spas + massage shops are cash-only. Bring ₩100k just in case.
No tattoos allowed at some spas
Older traditional spas refuse heavily tattooed guests. Dragon Hill and Spa Land have softened — verify by phone.
Bring your own toiletries (some)
Most spas sell mini sets at the counter; bring your own for sensitive skin.
Hair: bring a photo
Korean salons work magic from a photo. "K-Pop hairstyle of X" is a valid request.
Skin clinic consults are usually free
A 15-min consultation costs nothing at most beauty clinics. Pay only if you book a procedure.
